     The Bell206 was originally developed in 1962 for the United States Army. The aircraft was accepted for military service in 1969 as the OH-58 Kiowa.The aircraft has proved to be widely successful with large production run (including under licence by Agusta) and several derivatives.The commercial Model 206A began delivery in early of 1967. The total of more than 7,000 JetRangers of all version were built and about 1000 were built by Augusta, which began production of the Agusta-Bell AB 206 at the end of 1967. Bell began development of an improved version of Model 206A in early 1971. The Model 206B2 JetRanger II was replaced the Model 206A and in production with more powerful 400 shp. (298 kW) Allison 250-C20 turboshaft engine. The production of the JetRanger II ended in 1977 when it was replace by the Model 206B3 JetRanger III. This introduced a 425 shp. (317 kW) Allison 250-C20J turboshaft.
       Bell developed a larger version under designation Model 206L LongRanger. this retained the powerplant of the JetRanger III , but incorporated a fuselage stretch of 2 ft 1 in. (0.63 m ). A double door in the port side of the fuselage and first deliver in 1975. LongRanger was superseded in mid 1978 by Model 206L2 LongRanger II. This differed by having an uprated Allison 250-C28B turboshaft . The Model 206L3 LongRanger III was introduced in 1981 with 490 shp. (465 kW) Allison 250-C30P engine.
