     The F/A -18 HORNET is a multimission tactical aircraft,a single and dual-seat, twin engine designed to carry out both air-to-air and air-to-ground mission.The F/A- 18 HORNET replaced the F-4 Phantom II fighter, Corsair II light attack jet and is also replacing the A-6 Intruder as those aircrafts are retired . Today the F/A- 18 is the Core of US Navy and Marine Corp Tactical aviation. The aircraft can be coverted from fighter to strike mode as easy as flipping the switch. The F/A -18 has a variety of roles: air superiority,fighter essort, suppression of enermy air defences, reconnaissance, forward air control, close air support, day and night strike mission. The F/A-18 has prove to be the most versatile combat aiscraft in service.
     The F/A-18 uses a variety of systems and technologies to increase its likelihood of reaching the target undetected and escape unhurt if detected. The F/A-18 has been upgrade regulary since entering service in 1983.
     In Nov. 1989 equipped with night strike capability.
     In 1991 delivered with F404-GE-402 engine ,it produce up to 20% more thrust than previous engines.
     In May 1994 has been equipped with upgrade radar to APG-73, more speed and memory.
     Today Hornet have a laser target designator enables the aircraft to deliver precision laser guided boms with pin point accuracy.
     Industries team that built F/A-18 are: Boeing, Northrop Grumman, General Electric, and Raytheon .
